The product not only supports standard network protocols including TCP/IP, IPX/SPX,NetBEUI and AppleTalk, but also complies with IPP (comes standard with Windows2000/XP) and the binary mode of AppleTalk. Its compatibility with multiple OSes and protocols enables printer sharing and its easy implementation in a multi-OS network environment that may contain Windows, UNIX, and MacOS computer clients. |

The Mini100u utilizes Windows 2000/XP's built-in printing protocol called "IPP" to enable printing via intranets and the Internet.
[Merits of IPP Compatibility]
Sending a document to a remote user over a network usually requires the sender to attach the document to an e-mail message and send it to the other party. In this scheme, the recipient must also open and print out the attached file. If the receiver has a printer with IPP support, on the other hand, the sender can directly print the document on the receiver's printer. In other words, the new scheme:
- Frees the receiving party from the need to open and print out an attachment
- Saves the trouble of starting a PC just to receive and print out the file
- Directly provides a printed copy of the document to the recipient, whether or not the receiver has the software the sending party used to prepare the document.

Easy configuration via Web browser: SNMP eases operation management via network |

The operation settings of the Mini100s can be easily configured via a Web browser or Smart Print Manager 3,
the supplied configuration utility for Windows. Furthermore, the product supports SNMP and reduces management
burden on network administrators as it allows them to remotely monitor the product's operating status.
* The product does not support WPS (Windows Printing System) printers and printers that require bidirectional parallel support.
* The product may not be used with all-in-one devices (ex. fax/scanner/copier in one unit).
* Only Post Script printers may be used if you are using the product with a Macintosh computer (Apple Talk). |

* The product may not be used in bidirectional communication mode. It does not support fax/scanner/copier (etc) all-in-one devices.
*1 To print from a Macintosh (MacOS) client, you must use a printer with PostScript support. Please note that printers that lack PostScript support do not work when printing from MacOS via the print server.
